Well, it has been a while. . .

I am so sorry I have been absent from this site and the art and book scene in general for a few years. As you know the world has changed in the last three years (not for the better) and it has not helped my creativity. Two years ago I lost my mother (64) and then seven months after her passing my brother (43) died as well. The passing of my loved ones really took a toll on me. I didn’t feel creative at all. I mean, I didn’t even want to color! I didn’t/couldn’t finish a book. It was sad, I felt so lost for so long. A huge part of my being is creating and enjoying art. Thankfully I have an amazing husband who supports me and to where I didn’t need to work or earn a living. It has given me the time to invest in myself and draw closer to God and think about what I want in life. I want and MISS creating.

This week out of the blue I sat down and felt inspired! I can’t explain why all of the sudden I am interested in creating art. I am thankful to God for bringing this feeling back. SO THANKFUL. I have sat down for the first time in my life to learn how to watercolor. I am used to acrylics and some oil painting, but watercolor always seemed to not be my thing. I think I was wrong! This week I have painted everyday! The way watercolor works has really made me give up a little control in my painting. I am such a PICKY/detailed artist that sometimes I get bogged down painting every detail and never finish a piece.

I have six chickens in my backyard, I enjoy and love them so much. They have inspired me to make some new art. I also have a YOUTUBE channel that features the chickens. It is called Sippin’ with Chickens. The channel originally started out as whiskey review channel, then life got in the way. Now it is rebranded and I try to post weekly.

This new adventure will be me creating calendar pages featuring my love for chickens. They are so fun to watch and are truly beautiful! I am really enjoying merging traditional painting with my love for digital art. Each month I plan to bring you pages to download and print or leave on your computer. I just ask that you give me credit if you post them and keep it for personal use. I may have some special ones for a small fee, but I am still figuring out what platform I want to host my storefront on. Look for more info on that in the future!
